Race Info

This year Beastway MTB series has a new title sponsor TraderVan.co.uk and returns for its 24th year of inner-city MTB racing. Under a new organiser and helpers, Hackney GT clothing is now a series sponsor. The regular crew of Bruce Mackie, Michael Humphreys, Drew Jones, Noah Smith, Jarvis Goodyear of Epping Forest MTB, plus many volunteers and the Lee Valley Youth CC run the series with your offers of help always welcome.

The big news is that there are an additional two Saturday races added to the calendar for all those who love the series but cannot make it out to deep east London on a Wednesday night.  The Saturday races will be full length XC races with longer laps over approximately 1.30 hours. The evening outings will return to the normal format of short course, fast and furious  1 hour racing.

All happening on the outskirts of London at the excellent  Redbridge Cycle centre aka Hog Hill (Forest Road, Hainault IG6 3HP) with stunning views over the Thames valley and towards the City across green fields.  Suitable for all comers from complete novice to expert racer all are welcome and given equal treatment. National points apply for al those chasing ranking positions. Originally held at Eastway Cycle Circuit which was bulldozed to make way for the London Olympics,  it relocated to Hainault Forest for a couple of years before moving to the current venue. Beastway- because it was held at Eastway and was a bit of a beast!

2016 Series
Racing starts on Saturday 9th April and then consecutive Wednesdays from May 18th until June 29th. The series finale is on the very next Saturday on 2nd July. This finale race will be point scoring towards the overall series standings and we aim to make a bit of a party of it.  There will be prize giving alongside, BBQs, bar, music, trades stands and more.

After the first round you can still pre-enter each week up to 24hrs in advance of the round.

Beastway series info on British Cycling website, where you can make online entry, whether you’re a member or not.

No British Cycling racing licence is required unless you want to score ranking points.

Points Scoring
9 scoring races with your 7 best results to count
All volunteers who miss a race to help out will have their missed  points from that week  added to their overall points.  This is calculated  on the basis of their average weekly score taken from their best five results.   (This could well be to your advantage).

*****Signing on for all categories closes at  15 mins before race start time. *****

All riders should gather 10 minutes before the start and be ready to slot into their groups.
