The Beastway Mountain Bike Series has been held for 25 26 27 28 29 years in London. England.

For most of those years it was held at Eastway Cycle Circuit, which was removed to make way for the London Olympics, then it relocated to Hainault Forest for 2 years before moving to Redbridge Cycle Centre (Hog Hill) for 2009.
2017 was Beastway’s 25th year! We usually see around 100 starters in our main race, so there’s plenty of friendly action and overtaking. Youth races and u12s are getting very popular since this is a great way to start in an outdoor sport.

2017 Race Dates
Round 1 XCO Saturday 29 April 2017 – Races through the afternoon.
Rounds 2 – 9 XC 1 hour Wednesday 10 May to 28 June – Evening races

Get involved
We are looking for clubs and teams to help us with the work that goes into Beastway (Beastway- because it was held at Eastway and was a bit of a beast!). You can learn a lot about how to put on a race and have a good time with like-minded people, whilst putting something back into the sport.
We are all volunteers so come and join us.
Race format
Beastway races are usually a one hour blast of full effort as you race with your friends and rivals around a course that’s different every week. In recent years we have added a series opener on a Saturday to offer an early season XCO with more separate categories on 1h30 races for seniors and a Youth 30-40 minute event*. All rounds offer BC ranking points for those at the pointy end. Each round has a completely separate event for u12s/u10s on a short course for fun.
You can ride most any bike as long as it has two wheels with working brakes on each wheel, is human powered only and the bars have proper end-plugs for safety. Most folks compete on mountainbikes (any size wheel allowed these days), but some ride cross bikes and there was even a real steel roadbike going round recently. Helmets are mandatory. On dry days the ground can be bumpy and if it’s wet; well you should expect a bit of slippy slop.
Our courses change each round and aim to challenge riders on ability and effort.
Redbridge Cycling Centre is on Forest Road in Hainault. IG6 3HP. Nearest tube is Fairlop. Overground at Goodmayes. Rides out to the race start from Hub Velo’s shop in Lower Clapton Road – see our sponsors page for more info.
*This year our opening round is also Round 1 of the New SE MTB XC Series, with other dates and venues in SE region.
